CTBTO launches iTunes U page
Today the CTBTO has taken the next step in connecting with the public online and promoting open education by launching a brand new iTunes U page. The CTBTO becomes only the second international organization after UNESCO to do so.
Various educational and cultural institutions (universities, libraries, museums, scientific associations) and also media, government agencies and international organizations are increasingly using iTunes U to pool educational and informational material in audio, video and PDF form, making it accessible to the public for free.
The new CTBTO page allows iTunes users (supports Windows and Mac, as well as iOS mobile devices) to browse and download free video, audio and PDF files of briefings, lectures and presentations by CTBTO staff and leading experts on the policy, legal, technical and scientific aspects of the CTBT and its verification technologies.

Training and education for the future generations is the way to ensure that the international nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament regime remains relevant, robust and sustainable in the long run.
The new page includes videos and presentations from the Introductory Course on the CTBT and the Advanced Science Course, hosted by the CTBTO in September and December 2011 respectively as part of its Capacity Development Initiative (CDI). Other features include the “Tim Hampton Lecture Series” of informational lectures covering various technical topics related to the CTBTO, including the colloquium “One Year After Fukushima, Contribution of the CTBT” held on 9 March 2012. And the page contains video messages by CTBTO head Tibor Tóth stressing the CTBTO’s commitment to investing in open education for the public and for the new generation of scientists and scholars in particular. Over the next couple of weeks, videos and presentations from the 2011 CTBT Science & Technology conference will also become available on iTunes U. The page will be populated with more content over time.
