OBJECTIVES

  1. To provide a comprehensive understanding of the roles of National Data Centres within the verification regime. 
  2. To promote the exchange of experience and expertise among Participating States in the establishment, operation and management of a National Data Centre. 
  3. To equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills for accessing and utilizing International Monitoring System (IMS) data and International Data Centre (IDC) products. 
  4. To explore and promote the use of IMS data and IDC products for civil and scientific applications. 
    This includes discussions on how data from the CTBT verification system can be utilized in areas such as environmental monitoring, disaster prevention/recovery, and academic research. 
  5. To harmonize the approaches of States Signatories participating in and benefiting from the CTBT verification system.  


AGENDA

  • Introduction and objectives;  
  • National presentations (information on format and contents will be provided to approved participants);  
  • Methods to Access IMS Data and IDC products;  
  • IMS Data, Acquisition, Processing and Storage: Standard NDC-in-a-Box Software Package; 
  • Necessary NDC’s Resources to process IMS Data and understanding of IDC Products;  

Note: Participants are invited to bring portable computers (laptops) for getting onsite installation and hands-on of the NDC-in-a-Box. 


PARTICIPANT PROFILE

  • NDC technical and managerial staff and analysts, preferably IDC Authorized Users. 
  • Technical staff with an advanced degree who operate or have access to regional and/or local monitoring networks based on any or multiple IMS Technologies (Seismic, Hydroacoustic, Infrasound, Radionuclide). 
  • Experience in data analysis of any of the IMS Technologies 
  • Involvement in nuclear test ban verification. 
  • Understanding of computer-based systems (basic knowledge of the Linux operating system and SQL is desirable). 
     

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
French-speaking NDC technical and managerial staff are invited to submit their applications for this Workshop through established official channels (their Permanent Missions to the CTBTO or Ministries of Foreign Affairs) 
by the registration deadline of 15 February 2025.

Applications will be reviewed and applicants subsequently notified.  

However, pending the official nomination, participants may email the registration form upon its approval by an 
institution Director to allow the PTS to make timely travel and accommodation arrangements. 


FINANCIAL INFORMATION
Applicable to PTS-funded participants only

In accordance with its Staff Regulations and Rules and Administrative Directives, the PTS will provide the following to funded participants

  • A Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) that is sufficient to cover related expenses during the workshop program.
  • The PTS travel agent will reserve, issue and send the tickets to the participants for the most direct and economic route.
  • Funded participants are not allowed to purchase their own tickets unless, under exceptional circumstances, authorized to do so and only if this proves to be the most cost effective option for the PTS;
  • The PTS will book a hotel and cover the costs for the accommodation; and
  • Health insurance will be provided for the duration of the training.

Requirement: Scanned passport copies.

Visas 
Participants should apply for visas, if needed and as soon as possible, at the corresponding embassy/Consular office upon receipt of an acceptance Note Verbale from the Provisional Technical Secretariat, in order to ensure timely processing.
